Once a product is BIS-registered, it still has to carry the Standard Mark exactly as BIS specifies — the wrong dimensions, colours or missing licence details can put an already-approved product out of compliance. These are the two source documents we work from.
BIS Standard Mark Guidelines
This official BIS circular sets out the marking requirements under Scheme-II of Schedule II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018 — the exact Standard Mark design, its permitted colour schemes, mandatory licence number and IS number placement, the required reference to www.bis.gov.in on every marked product, and the separate rules for electronic (e-)labelling on devices with a display screen.
